Christmas lights in Malaga

As every year all the locals and visitors who come to enjoy the city of Malaga at Christmas, we wonder: what will be the theme of illumination that will dress the famous Calle Larios?

During this Christmas 2022, we will be able to enjoy 16 gigantic celestial angels of about 4 meters high that will preside over the main street of Malaga adorned with white and gold colours, sequins and with 32 large side columns that will offer effervescent effects welcoming both local people and our visitors.

This coming 26th November at 7:00pm we will be able to appreciate its first switch-on accompanied by Christmas songs such as 'Carol of the Bells' (Libera chidren choir) and 'Jingle bells' (Herd de lord), as well as more than 500 other streets that will be illuminated throughout the city with 1.3 million points of light.

But that's not all, as the Malaga singer Vanesa Martín will be the godmother of this event and will be in charge of pressing the welcome button to the Christmas festivities in Malaga from 7:00pm in the Plaza de la Constitución. After her, the well-known friends from Cádiz Andy and Lucas will give a concert for their 20th anniversary of their musical career.

After this first lighting, they will be switched on daily at 6:30pm. From Sunday to Wednesday they will be switched off at 12:00pm, and from Thursday to Saturday at 2:00am except on 24th and 31st December when they will be on until 6:00am.

In addition, this year we will be accompanied by a very exciting novelty in the Palmeral de las Sorpresas, Muelle Uno, Plaza de la Marina and Gibralfaro as we will be able to see a light show of 120 drones in unison which will be located in the area of the Cruise Terminal on the 3rd, 4th and 9th of December at 8:30pm, and on the 23rd of December at 7:30pm.

The façade of the Cathedral's Mocha towers on the south side will once again be one of the protagonists of this Christmas season, as a video mapping with laser technology will be projected onto it, showing 2D and 3D infographics from 27 December to 4 January (except on 24 and 31 December), with shows at 6:30pm, 8:00pm and 10:00pm.

Along the central Calle San Juan, Molina Lario and up to 11 cross streets of Calle Larios there will be three different spaces: "Cueva Mágica", "Cielo de mimbre" and "Salón de arañas" as a light performance to have the sensation of walking inside a cave or observing its elegant lighting elements formed by handmade and rustic Edison type bulbs to offer us a warm light with rustic and traditional touches.

After all that awaits us, do you still have any doubts about coming to Malaga this Christmas? Don't think twice and book one of our flats located in the city centre so you won't miss any of these shows.
